My name is Clare. I like writing for well-being and am thinking of writing my own book. I work as a PA in London two days a week. I’m interesting in changing career to become a counsellor or well-being coach having worked in banking and finance for over 15 years

Hi Clare, lovely to meet you! And I can relate on many fronts - would love to publish a novel or non-fiction title one day. I am just starting my further psychotherapy and counselling training (I primarily work in eating disorders and women's health in NHS and private at my current day job) so feel free to keep me updated on all your endeavours / always happy to chat career changes. Thanks for saying hello! Anything you can recommend reading/watching or listening?

I want to write my life story after being widowed at 33. I’m really interested in anything to do with psychology or mental health so any books on that are good. The body keeps the score is fascinating. Quiet by Susan cain is also good.

As an introvert, I am fascinated by Susan Cain's work and books (they are still on my ever growing to read list!). You should definitely write that story.

Yeah. I started it in 2014 but keep putting off writing anymore. Probably my critical voice going it’s not good enough or would anyone read it

Any fellow writers on here have any tips on life writing. I want to try and publish on 13 sept 2023 which will be the 10 year anniversary of losing my late husband

Sounds like a great goal Clare! I plan to hopefully interview some writers and authors both non fiction/biographical and fiction, so hopefully that might help too. Recommend following Emma Gannon on here too and listening to her podcast - she has interviewed authors at times on their process :)

This sounds incredible Clare! I imagine will bring up so many emotions but what a way to remember him and process what you’ve been through. I literally today remembered being a child and enjoying writing stories so much but haven’t done so in the longest time because my adult inner critic has been getting in the way, then I saw this creative writing journal in Paper Chase by Kristine Pidkameny that’s got loads of prompts and exercises to get you warmed up or ideas flowing so perhaps trying something like that to go through the process of writing without critiquing or judging what you’re putting down to get you started? I’m keen to read how you get on!

Ohh I've been meaning to read The Body Keeps Score for the longest time, I think this is my sign to read it next. Agree with Camilla, you should definitely write your book :)

Hello! My name’s Sophie, until 4 years ago I lived in the north east of England then moved down to London and don’t foresee leaving any time soon! I work with Camilla in an NHS Eating Disorders Service and also privately offering CBT, EMDR and ACT for lots of problems like depression and trauma. I am huuuugely passionate about improving accessibility to therapy and trying broaden people’s ideas of what “therapy” and healing can involve.

I am someone who finds it very easy to come up with grand ideas and plans but really struggle to be detail-focused and can often hold myself back by believing I’m dreaming too big, so I was really happy to see camilla had set this up as I hope to connect with people who I can learn from, be encouraged by and just generally enjoy other people’s thoughts and perspectives on things.

I’m currently obsessed with a podcast called 28ish days later which has taught me so much more about menstrual cycles and how to harness the power of periods and I am belated catching up with stranger things because my 10 year old stepdaughter is exhausted by me not understanding any of the memes or tik toks about it :’)

Soph! So nice to have to here too (even though I selfishly get to know work with you too!!). Oh my goodness - so not on the stranger things bandwagon but maybe I should be?! Everyone raves about it. And that 28ish days podcast has been on my list for ages - I’m going to download it this weekend. I am hoping this becomes an empowering and interactive little space where we can all learn from each other (and I I’ve learnt lots from you in face to face life already! ). I get the overthinking and being detail focused too- I’ve thought about starting this newsletter +\- podcast for months/year and then the other week just thought - I just need to do it (stick it to the perfectionism). It’s going to be a learning/evolving/growing project, after all, anyway! If there’s any topics you ever want discussed and people you’d love to be learn from then please do let me know, too! And I think you should start to make some of those dreams come true.
